Want to be an author? Be prepared for rejections from everyone
60Want to be an Author? Be prepared.
Writing my first book has been a completely overwhelming experience, good and bad. The good was that I had a "book" inside of me that I wanted to write and that I had found a publishing company to publish it, yet the bad is that errors went out in the first version of my book and that it did not convey exactly what I had planned, didn't edit and read what I had actually wrote enough. Once something is out there, it is out there, no matter if you pull it or not. Therefore, I revised, rewrote and re-released the book. The book is still not perfect, but, I feel, is a better representation of what I was trying to say. However, even though you think are being very clear about what you are trying to say and that you have a good message, others will not. I have had 2 negative reviews posted on amazon.com and what frustrates me the most, is that allegations made in the reviews about what I actually wrote was simply NOT true. I have learned that not everyone looks at the same piece of writng and walks away with the same opinon, which I know a lot of you already understand. Once would assume if something is clearly stated, everyone would understand it, obviously, not in my case anyway. I wanted to write a book about all of the negative experiences I have been through, my opions, at the time, and now and how I successfully moved on. The book's purpose was to help other women empower themselves through any type of negative obstacles. Some get it, some don't. I really enjoy writing and will continue no matter, I think writing is a great form of expression and want to encourage others to do so.
Whatever you decide to write, make sure your message is clearly stated and be prepared for harsh rejection. It is hard when rejection is made public, but that is what you must prepare yourself for when you publish a book. However, be proud of the book you have written, that is an accomplishment in itself. I wish all future authors on the website the best of luck. I would love to hear comments and or stories from other "budding" or experienced authors about their views on this and their "ups and downs" in the publishing world. Happy Writing!
